Payment Method Details

ABC Rent-A-Car accepts the following methods of payment:

Cash, Debit Card, Traveler's Cheques, Company Account, VISA Check, VISA, Master Card, AMEX, Discover, Diners Club, Carte Blanche, JCB

When credit card (i.e., VISA, Master Card, AMEX, Discover, Diners Club, Carte Blanche, or JCB) is used for the rental, an authorization for the full rental amount plus $100.00 is obtained.

When a Debit or Check Card is used for the rental, the full rental fee is charged up front. Additionally, a deposit of $200 for economy, compact, mid, and full size vehicles and $400 for convertibles, SUVs, mini-vans, and 15 passenger vans is charged.

Rental Qualifications

To rent a vehicle from ABC RENT-A-CAR, customers must meet the following requirements:

1) Possess a valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle. The license must have been issued in a) the United States b) Canada, or c) Internationally (must be in English and accompanied by a valid overseas passport.)

2) Be 21 years of age or older (Note: All drivers under the age of 25 are subject to a daily underage fee.)

3) In California only, renters must present proof of Auto Liability Insurance (i.e., a current auto insurance liability card, or policy from a United States Insurance Company.) If needed, ABC Rent-A-Car offers auto liability coverage at an additional charge which meets the minimum requirments of California.

4) Current home address (Post Office Box is not acceptable)

c) Name of Employer (if self employed a business card, if retired, not applicable).
d) Phone number of employer or business (if retired, not applicable)


Rental Rates

ABC Rent-A-Car offers daily, weekly, monthly, and special discount rates (via coupons and discount codes offered to return customers).

DAILY RATE: A one day minimum charge is incurred on all rentals. Each 24 hours, or any part of 24 hours is considered a day. After a 24-hour period, an extra hours charge will apply until the hourly charge exceeds the daily rate or extra day charge. When the hourly charge exceeds the daily or extra day charge, the daily or extra day charge will be applied. Hourly charges will appear on the rental agreement as "Hourly."


WEEKLY RATE: A weekly rate applies to vehicles rented for more than 6 (six) days. If the rental is based on a weekly rate, the renter will be charged a minimum of one week's rental, plus taxes, and associated fees. This weekly rate will apply even if the vehicle is returned in less than 7 (seven) days. After the first week, the weekly rate will be charged when the daily rate exceeds the weekly rate for the reserved time. When the vehicle is returned after the due date and time, the extra day rate will be applied.


Mileage Information

Unlimited mileage is offered; however, renter must stay within the boundaries of the state from which the vehicle was rented. A fee for additional miles may be accessed for travel outside of the state from which the vehicle was rented.


Collision Damage Waiver

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is not an insurance, but is a waiver. It gives the renter the opportunity to protect himself/herself against financial loss in the event the rental car is involved in an accident. When accepted by the renter, ABC-Rent-A-Car waives its right to collect for the damage to the rented vehicle.


While the rented vehicle is in the possession of the renter, the renter has primary responsibility for claims made against ABC Rent-A-Car. Renter is financially responsible for the full value of the rented vehicle, any and all property damage, third party claims, or any other financial damage that occurs during the rental period. If renter has current United States-issued insurance that covers damage, proof of insurance must be submitted. Renter is responsible for financial damages not recovered from renter's insurance.

Supplemental Liability Protection

This insurance protects the renter while in operation of the rental vehicle within the United States against claims made by a third party for bodily injury and/or property damage sustained as a result of an accident.

The coverage amount is equal to the difference of the primary underlying insurance and $1,000,000. Please refer to the Supplemental Rental Liability Coverage pamphlet available at the ABC Rent-A-Car counter and any underlying policies for the full terms and conditions of this coverage.

The rate for this option is $9.00 a day for all vehicles


Rental Liability Insurance

This coverage meets the California statutory limits of $15,000/$30,000/$5,000. In California Only, proof of Auto Liability Insurance must be provided at time of rental. A current auto insurance liability card or policy from a United States Insurance Company is required. (If you do not have proof of auto liability we offer auto liability coverage at an additional charge which meets the California minimums.)

The Rental Liability Insurance (RLI) is an insurance that protects you against claims made by a third party for bodily injury and/or property damage sustained as a result of an accident while the renter was operating the rented vehicle.

The rate for this option is $12.95 a day for all vehicles.


Personal Accident & Personal Property Coverage

Personal Accident & Personal Property Coverage is an insurance that provides Accidental Death and Accident Medical expense benefit for the renter and his/her passenger(s). Coverage is provided for the renter during the coverage period as indicated on the rental agreement. Coverage is provided for the "passenger(s)" while within the enclosed portion of the rental vehicle only.

Personal Accident Coverage does not cover all situations that may give rise to death and/or medical expenses. Certain exclusions apply to this coverage.

Personal Property Coverage protects against damage to personal effects owned by the renter, as well as any immediate family members of the renter who permanently reside in the renter's household and are traveling with the renter.

The rate for this option is $8.00 a day for all vehicles.


Inter-Location Vehicle Drop-Offs

One-way rentals to other ABC Rent-A-Car locations are available if you are using a credit card. However, a one time drop-off fee will be assessed. The fee is $250.00 between Los Angeles and San Francisco and Los Angeles and Phoenix. The fee is $400.00 between San Francisco and Phoenix. Child Safety Seats

Infant/Child safety seats are available for rental at a rate of $3.95/day or $25.00 per week.

Baby and child safety seats are required for children under six years of age or weighing less than 60 pounds in California and children five years or younger in Arizona.

If the seat is not returned in the same condition as noted upon rental, a cleaning fee will be assessed, or a charge will be applied if the seat is damaged and requires repair or replacement.


Age Requirements
Minimum Age: 21
Age 21 to 24 - Surcharge of $20.00 applies.
All renters must meet all other rental requirements.

Additional Drivers
2 additional drivers permitted an additional chargeof $ 5.00 applies per day(per additional driver)
Minimum Age for Additional Drivers: 21
Additional driver fees apply at all ABC locations. If the additional driver is under the age of 25, he/she will also be assessed the daily under-age fee unless prohibited by state law. Additional drivers must also meet the same requirements as renter.

Driving Area
Renters are authorized to drive the rented vehicle anywhere within the state in which the vehicle was rented. If the renter wishes to travel to another state, he/she must inform ABC Rent-A-Car so the contract may be noted. This ensures that our roadside assistance service can respond to any needs the renter may have while travelling. Travel to Mexico is strictly prohibited.

Deposit Requirements
Cash deposits are accepted. When a Debit or Check Card is used for the rental, the full rental fee is charged up front. Additionally, a deposit of $200 for economy, compact, mid, and full size vehicles and $400 for convertibles, SUVs, mini-vans, and 15 passenger vans is charged.
